How to Change Your TikTok Region
TikTok decides the country or region on your account, and it says it does that from information collected when you sign up, such as the region of your SIM card or your IP address. The setting lives under Settings and privacy, Account, User Information, Account region, and TikTok offers the change only when your account meets the requirements it lists.
- TikTok's help pages say it collects location information at signup, such as the region of your SIM card or your IP address, and uses it to set your account's country or region.
- In the app the setting is at Profile, Menu, Settings and privacy, Account, User Information, Account region. On the web it is at Settings, Manage account, Account region. The in-app path is the same on iPhone and Android.
- The requirements TikTok lists: you have been in that country or region and active on TikTok, you meet its minimum age there, you have settled rewards collected in your current region, and the app is up to date.
- TikTok warns that after a change you may not be able to change your country or region again.
- TikTok publishes no waiting period. The 90 days people repeat in forums is not in its help pages.
- Your connection changes your IP address, one example of the location information TikTok uses. TOKVPN cannot change your SIM card or make TikTok offer the setting.

What decides your account region
TikTok's account region help page says it collects location information at signup, such as your SIM card's region or your IP address. Those are examples, not an exhaustive list. A connection can change the IP address TikTok sees, but not your SIM card's region.
That is why two people on the same wifi can carry accounts in different regions: their SIM cards and their account histories differ. And a regular VPN rarely helps on its own: it hands you one data-center address shared with hundreds of other people, which does not look like a home connection, and the region is decided when the account is created, not when you open the app.
Where the setting is, and what it shows
On a phone, open the TikTok app, tap Profile, then the menu button at the top, then Settings and privacy, Account, User Information, Account region. That screen shows the country or region your account currently has.

Location and region are different settings
If you came here to change your location on TikTok, that is a different setting from your account region. TikTok's location information help page describes three kinds of location, and none of them is the account region on this page:
- Location Services. An optional setting at Profile, the menu button, Settings and privacy, Privacy, Location Services. When it is on in TikTok and in your phone's settings, TikTok receives your device's approximate or precise location and may use it to recommend content, including content near you.
- Estimated location. When Location Services is off or not available where you are, TikTok says it still estimates an approximate location from your device or network information, such as your SIM card region, your IP address and your device system settings.
- A post's location. The place you tag when you publish, chosen per post.
Turning Location Services off stops the device location, not the estimate. A connection changes one input to that estimate, your IP address. It does not change your SIM card region or your device system settings, and it does not change your account region. When TikTok offers the change
Whether the option appears is TikTok's decision, and it lists the requirements on the same help pages:
- You have been in the country or region and active on TikTok.
- You meet TikTok's minimum age requirement to use TikTok in that country or region.
- You have settled rewards collected in your current region, such as payouts from LIVE rewards or subscriptions.
- You have the latest version of the TikTok app on your device.
If the option is missing, update the app and check that list again. Only TikTok can change a region it does not offer, and no connection service can unlock the setting for you.
The 90 days you keep reading about
Forum posts and videos give a waiting period of 90 days, sometimes 60. TikTok publishes no such waiting period. Its published requirement is that you have been in the country or region and active on TikTok, which leaves the timing to TikTok.
Treat any exact figure as unverified. The outcome depends on the account: its region at signup, how long it has been active, where it has been active from, and the signals above. A connection does not shorten the wait.
Starting a US account instead of changing one
TikTok shows the country or region at the bottom of the signup screen, before the account exists. That is the moment the region is decided, from the signals above, so opening a new account is a different route from changing an existing one. What a US home address changes, and what it does not
