The two separate problems
Sellers outside the US usually run into two things at once and treat them as one. The first is the connection: TikTok sees where you are, and a foreign or data-center address is visible immediately. The second is the paperwork: TikTok Shop has seller eligibility rules, requires business and identity documents, and pays out to accounts that meet its own requirements.
A VPN only touches the first one. If someone offers you a shortcut through the second, the shortcut is the problem.
What the connection solves
Your device gets a US home address. That is what TikTok reads when you scroll the app, post product videos, go live and open Seller Center in a browser. The address is residential, so it is not in a hosting block that gets treated as a bot farm. It is static, so your account is not appearing from a different country every session, which is the kind of inconsistency that gets an account looked at more closely.
The connection covers the whole device, so the phone you post from and the laptop you manage orders from use the same key and the same address, so your shop runs from one place.
What it does not solve
Seller eligibility, business registration, tax details, identity verification and payout accounts are TikTok's rules, and we cannot change them. If TikTok requires a US business entity or a specific document for your seller type, an IP address will not substitute for it. If a shop is already suspended or under review, connecting from a US home does not lift that.

TikTok Shop from Pakistan or Nigeria
TikTok Shop has no marketplace in Pakistan or Nigeria. As of September 2026, neither country is among the markets on TikTok Shop's seller site, which lists the United States, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, several EU countries and six countries in Southeast Asia. There is no local shop to open, so the question becomes whether you can sell into one of those markets, usually the US.
TikTok Shop US answers that with its paperwork. For individual sellers and sole proprietors, it accepts only a US passport or passport card, a US driver's license or state ID, or a permanent resident card, and rejects every other ID. For corporations and partnerships, an owner with 25% or more may verify with a non-US passport, but the company also needs a US business representative, someone based in the US, plus business documents and proof of address.
A US IP address changes none of that. It is useful after TikTok has approved a shop, when you run it from Lahore or Lagos and want the app and Seller Center to see one steady US home. If someone offers to lend you a US ID or a representative in name only, that is the shortcut through the paperwork this page warns about.
One shop, one address

Why not a cheap US server
Renting a small US server and running your own connection sounds cheaper, and in dollars it sometimes is. Does TikTok Shop check my IP address?+
Where you connect from is one of the signals TikTok reads, both in the app and in Seller Center. It is not the only one: account history, documents and payout details are checked separately under TikTok's seller rules.
Will a US IP get my shop approved?+
